Jim Young has been a potter for 38 years. He is a member of the
Arkansas Craft Guild and teaches pottery at his studio in Rogers.
Jim's functional high-fire stoneware pottery is brilliantly decorated
with multiple layering of handcrafted glazes that melt and blend
together in temperatures that will melt steel (2400°F).
"It's all in the details," says Jim. "I airbrush the glazes to produce
subtle variations resembling the work of Nature. In fact I believe that
Creation and creating are closely intertwined. My purpose in life, I
feel, is to take in my surroundings and to express them through my
work. The Ozarks offer a wonder palette of intricate details for my
pottery.
